As required by the Immigration Bureau, foreigners:
1.  Shall report to the police station within 24 hours of entry (to apply for or update the accommodation certificate)
2、Will get a warning for 0 to 3 days of non-registration
3、3 to 10 days without registration will be fined
4、Not registering for more than 10 days will require a legal document and a summons and fine.

 

In addition, the following cases should be re-reported.
1、Re-entry
2、Visa or residence permit renewal
3、Passport replacement

 

Of course each district each office may be loose or tight, there are several areas have been in accordance with this implementation. It is recommended to try or within 24 hours (Sunday entry can be postponed to Monday) to apply for renewal, so as to avoid strict requirements up to cause unnecessary fines or penalties.

 

Foreigners staying in an apartment with registration capability, such as a hotel or school

When you move in, you must register for temporary accommodation at the front desk of the hotel or at the designated registration desk of the apartment, and ask for a certificate of accommodation registration from the front desk for subsequent use.

Foreigners living in apartments or neighborhoods that are not capable of registration

Register at the police station in the district where you live

Report to the police station in the district of residence within 24 hours of arrival

It is recommended to bring the following documents:
(1) Original passport;
(2) Lease contract;
(3) A copy of the renter’s ID card;
(4) A copy of the property certificate;
(5) Other documents required by the district police station.
