Visa policy update in May.2023

To further ensure the convenience of entry and exit personnel and promote the opening up of services to the outside world, the National Immigration Administration will further adjust and optimize the following entry and exit management policies and measures starting from May 15, 2023. The announcement is as follows:

 

1 We will fully resume the implementation of the "National Pass" for mainland residents to travel to Hong Kong and Macao as a team. Mainland residents can submit an application for endorsement of group travel to Hong Kong and Macao to the exit and entry administration of any public security organ in the country, and the application procedures are the same as those of the registered residence.

 

2 Implement the "National Pass" for mainland residents to apply for family visits, work, and study permits in Hong Kong and Macao. Mainland residents who plan to travel to Hong Kong and Macao due to family visits, work, study, medical treatment, litigation, property disposal and other reasons can submit applications for family visits, stay and other three types of endorsement to any exit and entry administration agency of the national public security organ corresponding to the reasons for the application. The application procedures are the same as those in the place of registered residence.

 

3 Adjust the validity period of stay endorsements for mainland students studying in Macau. The entry and exit management agency of the public security organs shall issue a stay visa for mainland students studying in higher education institutions in Macau, with a validity period of no more than 1 year adjusted to be consistent with their study period in Macau.

 

4 Fully restore fast customs clearance at ports. On the basis of the resumption of fast customs clearance at the ports adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao on January 8, in accordance with the pre epidemic practice and standard requirements, Chinese citizens who hold ordinary passports of the People’s Republic of China, travel permits to Hong Kong and Macao, travel permits to Taiwan, travel permits to the mainland for Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, travel permits to the mainland for Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents (valid for five years), and entry and exit permits valid for more than one year are allowed; Foreigners holding foreign passports, foreign permanent residence permits, foreign electronic passports, and foreign residence permits for more than 6 months; Chinese crew members working on regular international flights and foreign crew members who can enter China without visa or have completed flight attendants, employment visas, or residence documents for at least 1 year (inclusive) can pass through the border inspection fast track.
